Description

The Art of Sleep

Shown in Muro al tramonto: a muted terracotta, the colour of a plastered wall holding the last light before dusk. Warmer than clay, softer than orange, it sits as easily with dark wood as with pale walls. The middle step of the Terra Bruciata palette.

The layer beneath it all. Italian sateen of long-staple cotton, with a smooth face against the skin and DeepFit elastic at all four corners that holds mattresses up to 40 cm deep and keeps the sheet in place all night. The three colours of Terra Bruciata are chosen so each works with the others: a pillowcase in one tone, a sheet in another, and the pairing is already resolved.

The Fabric

Terra Bruciata is woven from SMERALDO by Martinelli Ginetto, a sateen of 100% long-staple cotton, made in Italy by a mill weaving since 1947. Longer fibres spin into a finer, smoother, stronger thread: the surface stays supple and is less prone to pilling. Thread count 300, 100 g/m²: light enough to breathe, dense enough to have substance in the hand. The sateen weave brings more of each thread to the surface, which gives the cloth a soft, low sheen rather than a high gloss, and a smooth face that softens with every wash. Softer and smoother than percale at the same thread count, more breathable than polyester satin.

Woven 305 cm wide, so large duvet covers and sheets come without a centre seam. OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified: tested for harmful substances, gentle on skin. The cloth is woven in Italy by Martinelli Ginetto, and every piece is cut and sewn by hand in Trakai, Lithuania.
